Spicy Snack Foods and the Danger They Pose to Kids
It’s no secret that bad eating habits are slowly killing many children, but doctors are speaking up about a junk food habit that is causing health problems in the here and now: Over-consumption of spicy snack foods such as flaming hot Fritos or Chitos
Doctors are seeing 5 or 6 cases per day of children with severe stomach or gastrointestinal problems (such as gastritis) related to eating too many spicy snacks, and some kids even land in the ER because of it;. One child ended up there after eating a bag or so per day. So if your kids eat these foods, limit their intake and keep them away from daily consumption.

Girl Burned On Side
Tuesday, November 12th, while playing with her four-year-old sister, a two-year-old girl was burned as she slid down the slide in her fathers back yard. Authorities believe one of the girls poured gasoline on the slide to make it more slippery. Then a spark from static electricity ignited as the girl slid down. Now the girl is in critical condition in a medically induced coma at an Atlanta hospital.
How many times as a child my sisters and I ran the water hose with a constant flow down the slide to do just what these girls thought they were doing. How sad they did not realize the danger they put themselves in.
A lesson to parents, keep dangerous chemicals out of the reach of children. As they grow, teach them the dangers involved in things we commonly keep in our home. We all hope and pray nothing like this ever happens again.

Preventing Hot Tray Burns in Kids
A number of mild burns happen when parents take a tray or pan out of the oven and set it on the counter. A curious child, wanting to see how the cookies turned out, then proceeds to grab the tray. Remind your kids that such things stay hot long after they are removed from the oven. Consider setting such items on the far end of the stove-top as opposed to the counter, where it is more out of reach and less likely to be grabbed by little fingers.

Candy All Around the House
After the kids go trick or treating, everyone’s mind will be on candy. Although the threat of razor blades is an urban myth, all this candy can pose some other dangers:
1. Kids may try to share candy that poses a threat to younger siblings.
2. Primed for seeing candy all around the house, young kids are more inclined to mistake pills or other poisonous items for candy, & may stick these items into their mouth without asking.
3. Keep a watchful eye and talk to older children about these risks.
